JLPT N5 Grammar lesson 4. Hi everyone! In this article, Learn Japanese daily will introduce to you the JLPT N5 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Grammar structure 16 :
~ている
Formation :
~Vて + いる
Explanation :
– Used to describe :
an action that is taking place.
a situation.
a habit.
an occupation.
Examples and examples’ meaning :
1.結婚(けっこん)している。
I’m married.
2.バドミントンをしている。
I’m playing badminton.
Grammar structure 17 :
~てから~
Formation :
~Vて + から~
Explanation :
After….
Used to describe a series of actions happen in order of time. Action 2 only happens when action 1 finishes.
Examples and examples’ meaning :
1.歯(は)を磨(みが)いてから、顔(かお)を洗(あら)う。
After brushing my teeth, I washed my face.
2.掃除(そうじ)をしてから、遊(あそ)びに行(い)く
After cleaning up, I went out.
Grammar structure 18 :
~てください
Formation :
Vます(minus ます)+てください
Explanation :
Do something.
Examples and examples’ meaning :
1.寝(ね)てください。
Go to sleep.
2.教(おし)えてください
Tell me about it.
Grammar structure 19 :
~でしょう
Formation :
V (short form) + でしょう
N +でしょう
Aな ( minus な) +でしょう
Aい+ でしょう
Explanation :
Is that true
This pattern is used to confirm, your voice is raised at the end of the sentence hoping the listener agrees with you.
Examples and examples’ meaning :
1.この仕事(しごと)大変(たいへん)でしょう。
This job is hard, isn’t it?
2.バスが遅(おく)れたんでしょう。
The bus is late, isn’t it?
Grammar structure 20 :
~てはいけません
Formation :
~Vて + はいけません
Explanation :
Do not…
Used to forbid someone from doing something.
Used to answer the question:てもいいですか
When answering, we can contract the verb, only leaveいけません.Don’t use this way of saying with superiors.
Examples and examples’ meaning :
1.ここで写真(しゃしん)を撮(と)ってはいけません。
Do not take photos here.
2.行(い)ってはいけません。
Do not go.

some transaltion are missing in the examples (i.e. example of grammar structure 6),
and some other are WRONG (example of grammar structure 9: 行きます = I go (usually) and not I went).

A list of little grammar structures is indeed very helpful to study o/
Just in the phrase 木の下に猫がいった, i think it translates to “There ‘was’ a cat under the tree”

Just a little thing, in the grammar structure 1, example 2
先生 の 英語 あもりがわからない
Sensei no eigo a mori ga wakaranai means “i don’t understand the english teacher”
